A fossilized dinosaur egg discovered in southern China has revealed one of the most complete dinosaur embryos ever found. The embryo, named Baby Yingliang, is estimated to be between 70 and 72 million years old. The discovery was made in a Chinese museum, where the egg had been stored and largely forgotten until recently. Upon examination, scientists found the embryo in a curled position, similar to the posture seen in modern bird embryos before hatching. This posture suggests that certain behaviors associated with birds, such as tucking for hatching, may have originated with non-avian dinosaurs. The preservation of the embryo provides paleontologists with valuable information about dinosaur development and the evolutionary transition from dinosaurs to birds. The fossil adds to the growing body of evidence that many characteristics of modern birds have deep evolutionary roots in their dinosaur ancestors.
