Huawei has introduced its first personal computers powered by its own HarmonyOS operating system and self-developed chips, aiming to compete in a market dominated by Windows and MacOS platforms.

On Monday, Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. announced the launch of its first personal computers in Chengdu, China. These new devices are equipped with Huawei's proprietary HarmonyOS operating system and utilize the company's self-developed chips. This move marks Huawei's entry into the personal computer market, which is currently dominated by systems running Microsoft Windows and Apple's MacOS. The introduction of HarmonyOS-based PCs comes at a time when Huawei faces increasing restrictions on access to U.S. technology, including software and hardware components. By leveraging its own operating system and chips, Huawei aims to reduce its dependence on foreign technology and offer an alternative to the established Wintel (Windows-Intel) ecosystem. The launch is seen as part of Huawei's broader strategy to strengthen its position in the consumer electronics sector and promote domestic technological innovation in response to ongoing international trade tensions.
