UAE's EDGE Group Signs $2.5 Billion Naval Vessel Deal with Kuwait

On June 2024, EDGE Group, a defense company headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, signed a $2.45 billion contract with the government of Kuwait for the supply of eight naval patrol vessels. This agreement represents EDGE Group's largest contract in the Middle East to date. The announcement was made during the Eurosatory defense exhibition held in Paris, a major international event for the defense and security industry. According to EDGE Group, the vessels will be designed and constructed by its subsidiary, Abu Dhabi Ship Building. The ships are planned to be equipped with advanced mission systems, although specific details about these systems have not been disclosed. Delivery of the vessels is scheduled to take place over the next several years. The Kuwaiti government stated that the acquisition aims to improve combat readiness, enhance maritime security, and protect Kuwait's vital and strategic maritime interests.
