Combination of Trametinib and Rapamycin Extends Lifespan in Mice

According to research reported by News-Medical, scientists have demonstrated that administering the drugs trametinib and rapamycin together results in a significant extension of lifespan in mice. Trametinib, a MEK inhibitor commonly used in cancer therapy, was found to extend the lifespan of mice by 5-10% when used alone. Rapamycin, an mTOR inhibitor with known effects on aging, increased lifespan by 15-20% when administered independently. When both drugs were given in combination, the mice experienced an approximate 30% increase in lifespan, indicating an additive or potentially synergistic effect.
