A man is expected to be charged after his wife died when she was ejected from a van during an accident on the Shah Alam Highway (KESAS) near the Awan Besar Rest and Treatment area. Police have completed their investigation and submitted the case to the deputy public prosecutor under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which concerns causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
On May 6, 2024, a fatal accident occurred on the Shah Alam Highway (KESAS) near the Awan Besar Rest and Treatment (R&R) area, heading towards Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur. A woman died after being thrown from a van in which she was a passenger. The van was carrying several passengers at the time of the incident. Following the accident, the Kuala Lumpur police chief, Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa, announced that the investigation papers have been completed and submitted to the deputy public prosecutor for further action. The woman's husband, who was involved in the incident, is expected to be charged under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. This section pertains to causing death by reckless or dangerous driving, which is a serious offense in Malaysia and can result in significant penalties, including imprisonment and fines. The police have also issued a public advisory urging all drivers to operate vehicles carefully and to ensure that all passengers wear seat belts to prevent similar tragedies.
